Around 1,000 migrants who have asylum claims in other countries could be flown back to Italy, Germany and France after arriving in Britain by crossing the English Channel, under plans from Home Secretary Priti Patel (top). More than 6,000 migrants (bottom) have made the dangerous crossing so far this year, a figure which has been described as 'thoroughly unaccceptable,' by Government officials. Only 29 arriving migrants were sent back to France in 2019.
