France intercepts just one in five migrants crossing the Channel, figures show - as French politicians accuse Britain of 'hypocrisy' by making the country 'so attractive' for newcomers

It's not often I agree with the French, but on this occasion they have spoken the truth, something the UK government has a real problem with, the truth..

British veterans living on the streets; elderly care on it's knees; NHS stretched to the limits; schools over-crowded; house shortages; a population of 'can work/won't work'; a pandemic and then we just exasperate the situation with the arrival of boatload after boatload of illegal immigrants. I've paid taxes since I started working at 18 which is over 30 years ago. I'm sick of it being wasted on people who have no right to claim anything and also then on legal aid for people who have no right to it. I thought Boris was going to stop all this and I'm so disappointed in him. I've paid into the system all my life and yet I'll probably still have to sell my house to be looked after in old age. Others haven't paid a penny and get everything for nothing. It's absolutely disgusting and I've had enough.

No free care and no right to work without official papers. That's the system in France, and the UK should have seen this coming years ago. Stop blaming France and get the same rules in place pronto.

I've been saying this all along, it's so obvious, here in France it takes five years before you can enter the healthcare system, your expected to have top insurance and even then everyone has to pay in part up front and claim back the cost and that's just healthcare. illegals don't WANT to stop in France because they get very little here and it is unreasonable to expect France to stop them coming to the UK when the UK could do it themselves simply by refusing them free health and social care

This would be super easy to solve, no benefits unless youre a British citizen, which is not guaranteed by being born here or you have been here for longer than 6 years with payslips your prove that youve been working for all of that time. Pre Brexit, this would have been impossible because we had to treat everyone the same as British nationals but not anymore. DWP, make the change!!! You would literally be changing five sentences in your eligibility criteria.

stop the freebies . no free money . no fast tracking for social housing . no free health care . but also remember lots of fat cats doing rather well off the back of this .voting labour tory or lib dem will never address this concern .look back over forty years plus .for proof

The only way to ensure these economic migrants stop coming is for the government to proclaim any migrant landing on these shores illegally WILL NOT get any benefits or help of any kind

Meanwhile British leeches, I mean lawyers, are queuing up to offer British taxpayers legal aid to anyone not granted free life in Britain once they have landed . . .

The French have a good point. Give them no benefits, housing, medical treatment (except life threatening emergency), no education until they have completed 6 months works with NI payments. Most of these people are economic immigrants NOT refugees (having passed through several safe countries) and can afford extortionate fees for transport. Let them pay for their first 6 months and see how the demand drops!!

I'm sorry to say that but I'm with the French on this one. This benefits culture of the UK will be its demise.
