O miúdo que aos 14 anos pediu aos pais para entrar para o PCP
Em plena adolescência, quis entrar para a JCP. “Calma”, disseram-lhe os pais. Já na faculdade, ficou sem dúvidas de que queria lutar dentro do PCP. Aos 24, é um dos jovens dirigentes comunistas que preparam as comemorações dos 100 anos do partido “com grande orgulho”.

“A forma intensa” como a professora de História do liceu deu a matéria do 25 de Abril e a forma “igualmente intensa” como falou da luta do PCP, levou António Azevedo, então com 14 anos, a pedir aos pais para o levarem à Festa do Avante! Estes, ainda que “com ligações a partidos de direita”, acederam. Ainda durante a festa, quis filiar-se na Juventude Comunista Portuguesa (JCP). Os pais pediram-lhe calma, dizendo-lhe que “deveria pensar melhor e assentar ideias”. Já a estudar no Instituto Superior de Ciências Sociais e Políticas, o “contacto com outros comunistas” e a “sua luta contra as barreiras económicas que havia no ensino superior” tiram-lhe todas as dúvidas e, em 2014, inscreveu-se na JCP.
Hoje, com 24 anos, António Azevedo faz parte da direcção nacional, é membro da comissão política da Juventude Comunista Portuguesa e é um dos jovens que, “com orgulho”, se preparam para celebrar o centésimo aniversário do partido.
Depois, há o grande orgulho de pertencer a um partido como este.
Hoje, o jovem comunista que está a finalizar o curso de ciência política diz que “a luta que o partido fez nos últimos 100 anos continua a fazer todo o sentido”. “Apesar de temos derrotado o fascismo, continua a haver a exploração do homem pelo homem. Isso nunca acabou. Podemos dizer que estamos num sistema diferente, mas a contradições aprofundaram-se. A riqueza concentrou-se num grupo ainda mais restrito de pessoas. Hoje, ser comunista continua a manter toda a actualidade e o programa do partido revela exactamente isso”, acrescenta.
“Que venham mais 100 anos, mais 200. Poderei já cá não estar nessa altura, mas cá estarão outros comunistas a lutar”, diz ainda, soltando um largo sorriso. Acredita que um dia o PCP vai ganhar as eleições e governar Portugal? - quer saber o PÚBLICO. A resposta sai rápida como uma bala: “Se o povo quiser.”

Intensive care units 'should stop treating elderly if coronavirus outbreak worsens'
Rather than admit patients on a 'first come first served' basis, hospitals in Italy should swap to 'catastrophe medicine' guidelines - typically used in war zones and during natural disasters - where those with the greatest chance of survival are given priority, a top Italian doctor said. The guidelines should apply to all patients needing intensive care treatment and not just those suffering from coronavrius, according to guidance published this week by the Society of Anesthesia, Analgesia, Resuscitation and Intensive Care (SAARI). If a limit on beds is implemented it could mean elderly patients with no signs of coronavirus being turfed off ICU wards to make space for younger patients who have longer left to live. It comes as a rise in cases of 31 per cent was reported today by the Civil Protection Agency, the largest increase in absolute numbers since the contagion came to light on February 21.

Porque si para Europa representa un "problema", en África son más bien una solución: válvula de escape social, herramienta política de presión sobre Europa que redunda en proyectos de desarrollo como los del fondo fiduciario aprobado en la cumbre de La Valeta y envío de remesas. Así la perciben muchos Estados y dirigentes africanos.
