Home office mass-deportation flight takes off for Jamaica as scheduled - despite last ditch court order to stop it over offenders' access to legal advice
Home Office proceeds with the deportation of convicted Jamaican criminals
Those on board the flight include criminals convicted of manslaughter and rape
Plans to remove offenders were seemingly blocked by court order last night
Flight thought to have taken off at 6.30am today with some convicts on board
The flight was originally scheduled to take about 50 criminals to Kingston, but it is currently unknown exactly how many were on board the flight this morning.
A source told Sky News: 'There will be at least 30 more serious criminals still in the country because of the ruling, some of whom will have to be released into the community.'
Chancellor Sajid Javid defended the Government's decision to go ahead with a deportation flight to Jamaica, adding that 'around 20' had been deported today.
