Indústria perdeu 37 mil empresas e 260 mil trabalhadores numa década e agora, com a retoma, confronta-se com a falta de mão de obra. Já é difícil arranjar até operários não qualificados e há milhares de reformados a trabalhar clandestinamente na reabilitação urbana
Produção no setor da construção em Portugal acima da média europeia em abril
Pedreiros, carpinteiros, trolhas, pintores, chefes de equipa, de tudo um pouco falta hoje na construção civil em Portugal. E até os trabalhadores não qualificados escasseiam. Uma década de crise na construção, agravada pela chegada da troika, levou ao desaparecimento de 37 mil empresas e de mais de 260 mil trabalhadores no setor. Grande parte dos quais emigraram e dificilmente regressarão. A solução, acreditam as empresas, está na criação de um regime excecional de mobilidade transnacional que permita às construtoras trazerem para Portugal operários seus de outros países, designadamente dos PALOP.

Costa del Crisis: 1,500 migrants have poured through Europe's new Spanish gateway in just
Spain is now the top destination for illegal migrants reaching Europe by sea (pictured right). So far this year there have been 23,000 arrivals, almost four times more than at the same point last summer. And the numbers reaching Spain grow daily. Sailings far outstrip those on the once-favoured route from Libya to Italy, which have fallen by 80 per cent since the interior minister of Italy's Right-wing government ordered a virtual halt to migrant boats entering Italian ports earlier this year. More than 1,500 people have landed along the Spanish coast close to Algeciras since last Friday. In one amazing episode, dozens of migrants were filmed arriving on a beach by boat and racing up the sand a few miles south of the seaside city as shocked sunbathers - some of them naturists - looked on. This week at Campamento, not far from the coastal city of Algeciras, a giant camp with orange tents and wood cabins (bottom left) was being given its finishing touches. It is a new reception centre for the thousands of illegal migrants who have sailed from Morocco to Spain on perilous journeys in rickety boats. Karim Kourama, 19, (bottom right with friends) is one of many arriving in Spain who hope to make it to Britain.

Shocking moment street traders WHIP an American tourist with a belt 'when he tries to stop them hurling insults at a woman pushing a pram' in Barcelona
Shocking footage shows an American tourist being whipped by street traders in Barcelona during a violent brawl. The man was reportedly set upon by the thugs in the Plaça de Catalunya after he intervened to stop them throwing insults at a woman pushing a pram. Video filmed by a startled onlooker shows the group of men punching the unnamed victim, who is reportedly aged 45. One of the attackers, wearing a white t-shirt and light brown shorts, then runs at the tourist and repeatedly whips him with his belt. He was said to be left with bleeding wounds after the attack and treated in hospital.
