Darrell Brooks Jr, 39, appeared in court in Wisconsin on Tuesday for his bail hearing. Bail was set at $5 million in cash, which the judge described as 'extraordinary' but appropriate given Brooks's lengthy criminal history. Yet anger was mounting at the granting of bail - even at what the judge believed to be an impossible sum - given the circumstances, and the fact that he was freed two days before carrying Sunday's attack. The court heard how he had charges filed in three states, and had spent large stretches in custody. He had been charged with attacking police, abusing a partner, and failing to pay child support. He had also failed to show for numerous court hearings. The sixth victim was named on Tuesday as Jackson Sparks (right), aged eight.
