POR CÁ BASTAVA PUBLICAR NOMES E VENCIMENTOS QUE JÁ AJUDAVA...

The new Government is not confining its zeal for transparency to departmental budgets. Earlier in the week, it published a list of those senior civil servants who out-earn the Prime Minister – nearly 200 of them. Then there were the 50 or more senior executives of housing associations who are paid more than David Cameron's £142,500. It is only a matter of time before their counterparts in the BBC, local government and quango-land stand blinking beneath the public spotlight. And, of course, the week started with the fallout from our own disclosures about David Laws's wrongful expenses claims. It is a truism that information is power. How heartening that at long last it is going to the people, where it belongs.
